About Me

I am a passionate and proud New York City native who has always been captivated by magical worlds and writes just that.  Creating my own characters, worlds, and stories is something I've always done ever since I can remember, but it was a high school assignment that would give me insight on how important writing stories would become in my life and how they would emotionally impact those who read them.

For a period of time I worked for an independent comic book team where I managed story arcs and designed characters.  This gave me the opportunity to attend comic conventions around the country where I had the opportunity to meet and interact with the fans; an awesome experience I will never forget and look forward to having with my own novels!

What I'm Writing

I've just finished writing my debut middle grade fantasy novel of 64,000 words, Magiteck: The Fire Within.  We go on adventures alongside Matthew, a misunderstood twelve year old boy from Earth, who travels to another world to save the magic, which connects all galaxies in the universe that's on the brink of destruction.

The birth of this story actually began ten years ago.  I wanted it to be special, something that I wished I had growing up.  So, I  placed a young boy who’s trying to navigate a foreign magical world with its excitement and mysteries while questioning his own identity and where he's supposed to fit in the world.  My hope for every reader is to realize how being outside the box makes you that much more unique.

Throughout my writing journey, I've taken multiple classes at Gotham Writers to hone my writing skills, learn new and fresh techniques, and understand the inside of the publishing world.   I'm currently working on Book 2 of this series (even though Book 1 can stand alone) and I'm so excited how the characters are growing, the world is expanding, and many secrets of the past are being revealed!

Inspirations

As a kid, I was always fascinated by comic book superheroes and how they had otherworldly powers with secret identities.  Almost every week after school, my father would take me to comic book shops and that was the icing on the cake!  As an adult, I attend New York Comic Con every year and can't wait for the day I see my characters cosplayed there.  There's something to be said about superheroes and how they do good in the world, but have to hide who they truly are, that resonates with me.   Now, if you're thinking: does Frank bring superhero qualities to his Magiteck series?  You would be absolutely correct!

And then there's Disney!  My parents have been taking me to Disney World since I was 6 months old.  It was our summer vacation destination for years and the parks, alongside Florida, have become a second home to me.  I'd say Disney is in my blood!  Their emotionally-packed and captivating stories inspire me to create lovable and relatable characters within gorgeous magical worlds that allow you to easily lose yourself within them.  My ultimate goal — to be that inspiration for future writers and creators.  That would make me the happiest person on this planet!

What Writing Means to Me

I feel that writing allows one's mind the freedom to be limitless where the impossible becomes possible.  No matter what profession, culture, or background you come from,  writing can be a healing tool to help express yourself in ways that may not always be acceptable or allowed.  This doesn’t mean you need to write a novel, it can be as simple as keeping a journal or getting a pad and jotting down your thoughts.  It’s in this where I believe we find who we truly are.
